Lot's Integrity As A Righteous Man
Lot's integrity as a righteous man ~ The foundation of God's words for this theme of our meditation; is taken from the letter of 2 Peter. Thus says the Lord: “For this righteous man lives among them, and sees and hears about their evil deeds every day...” – 2 Peter 2:8.
Of course, we all know about the history of Lot's life. In the Bible record, we find information that Lot was Abraham's nephew. When his father died, Abraham raised him. When God called Abraham to leave the country, Lot accompanied him. Lot also knew God through Abraham and received God's blessings. Lot became rich, had flocks of cattle, many shepherds, and had his own tent. Lot's and Abraham's many herds made their herdsmen compete for pasture and water sources. So Abraham and Lot agreed to separate. Lot chose the best area to live in, the fertile and water-rich Jordan Valley.

Based on the information above, we find that Abraham's influence on Lot's life was very complete. Both from a spiritual aspect, Lot knew God through Abraham's way of life. Apart from the economic aspect, Lot also received valuable lessons from Abraham so Lot became a rich and respected person at that time.
From a human perspective, Lot made the best decision. However, the reality is very different. At first, he lived near the city of Sodom; but eventually settled there. The people were evil and very sinful against God. They practised a life of immorality and cruelty before God (see Genesis 18-19; Ezekiel 14). 16:49-50).
The bad impact experienced by Lot in Sodom and Gemorah. Every day he witnessed their crimes and sins which were very different from Lot's values of justice. He himself saw the city destroyed when God punished him; and became a pillar of salt because his wife disobeyed God.
This was a very high price that Lot paid for a decision that only considered worldly interests. Lot's story should be a reminder to seek God's guidance in every decision we make. Because God knows what is best for us.
Have a nice day. Stay healthy and always rely on the Lord Jesus. May the Lord Jesus bless our lives, our families, our work and our ministry. Amen
