Understanding God's Covenant In God's Way
Understanding God's covenant in God's way ~ The story of the kingdoms of Judah and Israel is indeed tragic. They finally did disappear in a long history as a kingdom that once triumphed under the houses of David and Solomon. So we also remember the Lord's warning to Samuel, when the Hebrews asked for a king (1 Sam 8:10). God has warned of all the consequences, and the worst thing that will happen is that the people will replace their pride and their worship of God shifts to the king, to power and the political system.
And a new chapter ensued. GOD is the only tool in the center of the glory of a kingdom. Israel will be the same as other nations and the struggle between nations to realize who will be the greatest and the most victorious becomes his main goal. Now, in the midst of the never-ending hustle and bustle of the royal battle, GOD not only gave sweet promises but offered a new covenant for His people. A covenant He once made with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob; the covenant of steadfast love to be God to us and we to be His people.
This is the promise and the covenant: “Then you will be my people, and I will be your God” (Jeremiah 30:22, 31:1). This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: "I will put My law in their hearts and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be My people." (Jeremiah 31:33) Yup...God does not just give sweet promises of restoration, but He offers a covenant of faithful love.
The covenant that has remained the same since His choice of Abraham as the father of believers, until now we are children born of the covenant of faithful love. Through the story of the destruction and exile of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, we are called to remember God's covenant with us, not just quoting beautiful promises.
I interpret the agreement not only for the nation of Israel or Judah, but this is a covenant for all of us. Yes, for us too, for you and me. God does not explain when and when. He just said: "At that time...", that means it could be at the time Jeremiah was still alive or it could be today. By faith and belief, then I hold that promise until now and even in the future.
A promise of ties that began with Abraham, which was renewed during the fall of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. And which will be perfected in the new covenant bond with God through Jesus Christ. Yes, this is the covenant, that the LORD will be God to all peoples and nations. Brother...I don't know if you are currently in a state of success? Or poor papa, because he lost everything. What I want to remind you is to keep seeking His face, remember and re-bind your covenant of loyalty with the LORD our God. That the LORD will be our God and we will be His people. Whatever your nationality and nationalism. If there is a sin, hasten to repent.
Seek GOD as long as He is pleased to be found...and renew your covenant of allegiance with GOD. Don't let things get worse just because we forget the bond of our pledge of allegiance to GOD, for the worship of power or anger due to suffering. The LORD is a God whose steadfast love is full. As the immensity of the heavens is beyond measure and the foundations of the earth unsearchable, so is the love of the LORD (Jer 31:37).
He will not reject His people just because of their mistakes and neglect of His love. He will still love us and call us to return to His covenant.... even though it is a very long road.
