Don't Run Away From Ministry
Don't run away from ministry ~ The foundation of God's word for the theme of our meditation, is taken from the book of Jonah. Thus said the Lord: “But Jonah prepared to flee to Tarshish, far from the presence of the LORD... He paid the cost of his journey, and boarded the ship to sail with them to Tarshish, far from the presence of the LORD” – Jonah 1:3.
“Once, I decided to quit seminary and run away from my calling as a servant of God,” said the young pastor. This idea arose because he saw conflicts in his church over trivial matters. He was also the target of slander from church colleagues who hated him.
Luckily, a high-ranking priest he knew encouraged him to become a priest after graduating from college. He followed that advice until he was ordained as a pastor at his local church.
Yunus once denied God's calling in life. He did not immediately obey the first commandment and even deliberately ran away from God's presence. As a result, Jonah's escape almost ended in disaster when the ship he was on was caught in a storm and waves, and Jonah himself was thrown into the sea before being eaten by a large fish.
Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days. Jonah would never have faced a series of difficulties if he had followed God's call from the beginning. Sometimes, in living God's call, we may doubt, want to give up, or be tempted to do other things and decide to leave the call.
But in truth, life is no longer meaningless without living according to God's calling. Just as Jonah found meaning in life when he followed God's call, we will also find meaning in our lives when we answer God's call.
Have a good day, keep the spirit and always rely on the Lord Jesus. May the Lord Jesus bless our life, family, work and ministry. Amen…
