Be aware of your achievements ~ The foundation of God's word for this theme of our meditation; is taken from the book of Genesis. This is what the Lord said: “They also said: “Come, let us build ourselves a city with a tower that reaches to heaven, and let us make a name for ourselves; so that we are not scattered over the whole earth” – Genesis 11:4.

Steve Truitt, the host of a program on the Discovery Channel, had the opportunity to try out a space shuttle simulator. Accompanied by a professional guide, Steve then tried the simulator, which he felt was like controlling a real plane.

 

Seeing the sophistication of the tool, I was amazed at the intelligence of the people who made all this modern equipment, so that it could be used to train NASA space shuttle pilots, to keep them safe while on duty.

Human intelligence has indeed been seen since the earliest times humans were created. Adam, we know that God was not only given the mandate to manage the Garden of Eden; but also to give names to all the animals that exist (Genesis 2:15,20). Meanwhile, today's devotional text shows that humans have been able to build tall towers, which if God doesn’t mess them up; because God is not pleased with their motivation for building towers, it is very likely that their efforts will succeed. This is proof that humans are born with some “divine intelligence” within them, because of the “breath of life” that God breathes into every human being.

As believers, we too can develop our intelligence to the fullest. Be assured that with God’s help, we can also produce useful works. However, we need to ensure that the results of developing intelligence do not conflict with His words, do not harm other people, and do not damage the environment around us.
