Giving Doesn't Have To Be Material

Giving doesn’t have to be material ~ The foundation of God’s word for this theme of our meditation; is taken from the book of Acts. This is how the Lord God said: “But Peter said, “I do not have gold and silver, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, arise and walk!” – Acts 3:6.

A man visited his neighbour's house to borrow money to buy rice and side dishes. He has no income because he hasn't found a new job after being laid off a few months ago.

 

Unfortunately, the neighbour claimed to have no money. But since that day the neighbor always shared his cooking with him. “This is the result of my garden, we can eat together,” he said.

When a paralyzed man saw Peter and John crossing the gate of the Temple, he cried out for alms. Instead of giving the money, Peter replied, “I don’t have gold and silver.” But he said this not because he was avoiding it; so that the man would understand if Petrus did not give money. On the other hand, Peter gave a miracle of healing which of course has a far greater value when measured in money.

 

Often material limitations become a barrier to expressing love. Because of our limited financial condition, we rarely take part in expressing love. In fact, didn’t He make God’s children rich in gifts, blessings and spiritual consolation? This heavenly treasure is certainly beneficial to others when we use it to express concern.

 

Present to accompany those who feel lonely, alone and grieving, for example. Can also give yourself to listen to the complaints of those who are in the crush of struggle. Yes! Energy, time, ideas, thoughts and all of our abilities can be used to serve others, even if the value is not inferior to material gifts.
