Beware Of Balaam's Behaviour

Beware of Balaam's behaviour ~ The foundation of God's word for this theme of our meditation is taken from the letter of Jude. This is what God says: “Woe to them, for they follow the path of Cain, and for the price they throw themselves into the error of Balaam, and they perish for rebellion like Korah” (Jude 1:11).

Lately, it has become familiar to us when we hear people who claim to be God's servants say, “I just heard God speak to me about this and that; God ordered this and that.” But what was sad afterwards was that, at the end of the delivery, the person who claimed to be a servant of God and had just heard God's voice asked for an offering of a certain amount.

 

Balaam was also a man who could hear God speak to him. God seemed to communicate intimately with him. Many people will think that Balaam was very close to God, having intimate communication with him like God's communication with Moses.

 

In fact, God actually communicated with Balaam because He intended to frustrate Balaam's evil intentions. God wanted to frustrate Balaam's evil intention of cursing the Israelites for the reward of Balak (verse 12). For Balaam, hearing God's voice was his business.

Whereas for God himself, it is not a spiritual achievement but a very rotten thing. One time, God was about to kill Balaam when he was about to go to Balak by riding his donkey (verse 22).

 

Balaam was impressed; as if he were close to God and had a reward behind it. If God's people are not observant, do not check it again based on God's word (the Bible); they will be easily misled and deceived.

 

Today, let's check again: Who are the people we listen to in spiritual matters? Is he someone like Balaam, or is he a true servant of God?
